Mullet Man, Patrick Kopacz, out and about on the city scene.

Local filmmaker, Ryne Hastings and his producer, Dan Epple, are leading a team that is hot on the trail of legendary local figures, with a new documentary in the works that residents are invited to take an active part in this Friday evening.

The film, called "American Mullet: Legend of the Silver Fox," showcases the life and times of Fort Wayne resident, Patrick Kopacz, and the final footage will actually be shot at a surprise birthday bash in Jerry's honor, at The Corner Pocket Pub, on the city's north side.

In the spirit of the "bar legend" Kopacz has become, the team is gratified to have Three Rivers Distilling Co. and Hop River Brewing Company as enthusiastic associate producers.

Here's a sneak peek at what the crew has been up to:

Earlier this week, WBOI's Julia Meek sat down with Hastings and Epple to learn how this true story of Fort Wayne's Mullet Man is coming together with equal parts creativity, humor and insight, and what this unique individual can teach us about ourselves.
