Mayor Tom Henry launched a pilot grant program Tuesday morning that would support neighborhood projects aiming to enrich public spaces.
Fort Wayne’s Community Development Division will offer $40,000 in Neighborhood Improvement Grants, with a maximum pay out of $5,000 to individual projects.
The grant will be funded by federal Housing and Urban Development dollars and, as a result, only neighborhoods with with a majority of households at or below 80 percent of the Area Median Income can apply.
Applications and more information can be found at the City of Fort Wayne website. The City encourages applying for projects such as community gardens and public art, or improvements to benches, signs and community centers.
