Fort Wayne Weekend Snowfall Totals Four Inches

Zach Bernard/WBOI News

Indiana saw its first snowfall of the season on Saturday, a full month before the official start of winter.

The National Weather Service estimates four inches of snow landed in Fort Wayne over the weekend, exceeding the expected amount of one to three inches.

Fort Wayne's snow totals were also dwarfed by some northern Indiana counties that collected as much as 12 inches. Allen County totals hovered between three and four inches during the weekend.

Saturday's snowfall may be an anomaly at this stage of the year, as temperatures are expected to climb back into the fifties by Wednesday. Rain is expected on Thanksgiving with an anticipated high of 57 degrees.

WBOI will have the latest updates whenever inclement weather strikes Fort Wayne and Allen County as we approach the winter season.
