GE Campus Redevelopment Gets New Branding

Greater Fort Wayne Inc.

Three months after development partners purchased and committed to redeveloping Fort Wayne’s General Electric campus, the name and branding for the project was unveiled Thursday night.

The development team, consisting of Cross Street Partners, Greenstreet Ltd. and Biggs Development, have adopted the name Electric Works for their work on the GE campus.

Greenstreet managing principal Jeff Kingsbury says the name was inspired by the campus’ long history as a General Electric complex.

“But we also didn’t want to be defined by history and also wanted a name and an identity that would complement and inspire what the future could be for that place,” said Kingsbury.

Kingsbury says he and the development partners are in the early stages of the proposed mixed-use development, which includes surveying the property, setting up an environmental study from the state and determining the types of business that could occupy the space.

Construction on the Electric Works campus is expected to begin in 2018.
