Nights Before Christmas Returns To 89.1 WBOI In December

Rob Martinez

Seven is a lucky number for many different reasons.  There are seven days in a week, seven continents, seven seas, seven colors in a rainbow, seven wonders of the World, and Shakespeare's seven ages of man.

Rob Martinez, the host of "The Movie Music Spotlight" sees it a different way:

"There's seven dwarfs surrounding Snow White, seven samurai, seven days in Tibet, Marilyn Monroe had a seven year itch, and don't forget a British spy with the code name 007."

For the seventh year in a row, Martinez will be hosting "The Nights Before Christmas" on WBOI this December.  A collector of Christmas music since 1985, Rob's collection now stands at over 2400 albums and over 39,000 songs.  Every year since 2011, he has hosted specials that showcase holiday music that seldom gets played around this time of the year.

"WBOI has always been supportive of the show," Martinez adds.  "I'm grateful for them for allowing me on the air to play selections from my collection and I'm very thankful the audiences have responded to it."

That audience has spread across NE Indiana, the United States, Canada, England, Norway, Sweden, even as far away as China.  Despite only airing three times in the year, the Facebook page for the radio show is very close to reaching 1000 likes.

"Nights Before Christmas has become a fun tradition for many households over the last seven years," 89.1 WBOI program director Katy Anderson says, "We're all anxious to hear what Rob has in store for us this year."

"The Nights Before Christmas" will be broadcast on three nights this December with a different themes for each episode.  Some of themes you can expect to hear are "Love and Christmas", "O Hanukkah, O Hanukkah", "An LGBT Christmas", and several other unique themes you won't hear anywhere else.

The 2017 schedule:

Friday, December 8th - 8 to 11 PM

Wednesday, December 13th - 9 to 11 PM
