The new logo unveiled for Purdue University Fort Wayne in early January has a small asterisk that says "pending Higher Learning Commission approval."
That asterisk can now go away, with a ruling issued by the commission Monday allowing the school to begin branding and marketing under its new name.
Last spring, the Purdue University board of trustees announced the split into two schools, and the change will become effective on July 1.
Indiana University will take over the health sciences degrees offered at the north Fort Wayne campus, under the auspices of IUPU-I. Purdue University will retain degree-granting authority for all other academic programs.
Indiana Purdue University-Fort Wayne was established in 1964.
