Summer Concerts Trace Musical Connections Through "Botanical Roots"

Each Friday evening in August, Fort Wayne's Botanical Conservatory is inviting the community to grab a lawn chair, settle in, and enjoy music that's fun and funky, creative, and upbeat.

Megan Butler loves the imprint that 11 seasons of Botanical Roots Concerts have made on Fort Wayne's music scene.

From reggae to blues, to hip-hop/bluegrass fusion, each Botanical Roots concert features an eclectic national act that provides a taste of a genre or style you might not otherwise get to experience here in Fort Wayne. Each of these, in turn, is paired with a local band to open the evening and enhance your musical experience.

For an inside look at this creative outdoor concert series, WBOI's Julia Meek met with the Conservatory's Megan Butler, to discuss the importance, and pleasures of exploring one's "Botanical Roots."
