One previously homeless Fort Wayne family of four is able to call a home their own. They’re paying an income-based rent on a new house built on the Vincent Village campus.
The property was officially dedicated Thursday.
Vincent Village owns and rents 33 properties to provide affordable housing for low income residents.
Denise Andorfer, executive director of Vincent Village, says all organizations providing housing services in Fort Wayne face a great demand.“The shelters are always full," says Andorfer. "All the shelters all have waiting lists, we have a waiting list now probably of about twenty families.”
Funding for the newly built home came from federal HUD funds secured by the City, with additional matching funds from the Indiana Housing Community Development Association.
