Writing novels in poems, also known as a "verse novel," is Frost's favorite genre.

Helen's multiple award-winning debut novel was published in 2003.

Frost, a South Dakota native, has published poetry, children's books, anthologies and a play, as well as a book about teaching writing.

A big proponent of all mediums and art forms, her works have also been set to music and dance, and depicted graphically by artists of all ages.

WBOI's Julia Meek decided to get a little preview of the auther and her story, so she invited Helen into the studio last week to talk about the passion that has driven her life's work, and some ot the experiences she's had along that journey.
