Local Author Builds Passion For Reading Through Picture Books

Holly Niner is a New York state native, now living in Fort Wayne, who loves reading a good book almost as much as she enjoys writing one. Children's picture booksare her specialty, and she has four titles under her belt now, two of them completed just this year.

Her most recent work, "No More Noisy Nights," is set for publication in September, and she'll be signing "The Day I Ran Away," released this spring, as part of Fort Wayne Three Rivers Festival activities this Saturday evening.

The kid-oriented topics her stories touch on include Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), Tourette Syndrome, running away from home, and dealing with nightmares. Here's the current line-up of Niner titles:

Earlier this week, WBOI's Julia Meek invited Niner into the studio to discuss what drives the author's passion for the craft, and the magical power of the picture book.
