Live Blog: 2024 Primary Election

Republican gubernatorial candidates, Democrats for U.S. Senate, the 3rd District Congressional race updates and the Republican Allen County Commissioner's race are among the contests we will be monitoring this evening.

10:15 p.m. WBOI will have all the latest news and information Wednesday morning on Morning Edition and throughout the day.

9:33 p.m. According to unofficial results, Ron Turpin defeated Tom Harris for the Republican nomination in the 1st District Allen County Commissioner's race.

9:25 p.m. Marlin Stutzman appears to have clinched the Republican nomination for the 3rd District Congressional race, defeating Tim Smith, Wendy Davis, and Andy Zay in a tight race, according to unofficial results.

8:50 p.m. The Indiana Democrats have congratulated Valerie McCray on her victory in the primary for Sen. Mike Braun's seat. McCray will face off against Rep. Jim Banks (R, 3rd) in the fall.

Braun will face Jennifer McCormick in the gubernatorial contest.

8:45 p.m. In the Republican race for the 1st District Allen County Commissioner race, Ron Turpin continues to pull ahead of Tom Harris, with the margin extending now to 1,500 votes., with 36 precincts still to go.

8:30 p.m. The 3rd District race on the Republican side is starting to see some daylight open up between Marlin Stutzman, who held the seat prior to current Rep. Jim Banks and three others in Wendy Davis, Tim Smith, and Andy Zay. Stutzman has pulled ahead by about 1,200 votes. But the race between the other three remains within 250 or so votes.

No results have been made available for Noble, Wabash, LaGrange, Steuben and Kosciusko counties.

8:05 p.m. In DeKalb County's unofficial results, Kellen Dooley defeated incumbent Mike Watson for the Republican nomination in the Central District seat for the County Commission. Jim Miller won the Republican nomination for the County Commission's East District seat, defeating Andrew Provines.

Patrick Jessup defeated Carolyn Foley in the race for the Republican nomination for Judge of Superior Court 2.

7:58 p.m. In the race for the Democratic nomination for the 3rd District seat, Kiley Adolph is pulling ahead of Philip Goss in area counties reporting results so far.

In the race for the open 1st District Allen County Commissioner seat, Ron Turpin continues to pull ahead of Tom Harris, with just under 500 more votes so far.

7:50 p.m. Adams County has issued its unofficial final results–with Stan Stoppenhagen holding onto his seat in the Republican primary for 1st District County Commissioner, defeating Kim Brandt with 60 percent of the vote.

7:45 p.m. The race for the Republican nomination for 1st District Allen County Commissioner is tight, with Ron Turpin ahead of County Councilman Tom Harris 8,502 to 7970 votes.

7:40 p.m. State Sen. Andy Zay has inched ahead in the race for the 3rd district congressional seat, largely due to his strong showing in his home county of Huntington. But it remains an extremely tight race with about 150 votes separating him from Stuztman.

7:35 p.m. The Indiana Democratic Party is already pairing former State School Superintendent Jennifer McCormick with Republican Mike Braun in the race for the governor’s seat, even this early in the race, according to a release.

7:30 p.m. The 3rd District race is incredibly tight in early results between Wendy Davis, former 3rd District Rep. Marlin Stuzman, and Tim Smith. State Sen. Andy Zay is also in the mix.

Mike Braun continues to pull ahead in the race for the Republican gubernatorial nomination.

7:00 p.m. In the race for Braun’s soon-to-be open U.S. Senate seat, Valerie McKray is pulling ahead in the democratic nomination contest, according to early results.

With 12 precincts counted in Allen County, incumbent 81st District State Rep Martin Carbaugh is about 50 points ahead of Republican challenger David Mervar.

In the six-way race for the republican gubernatorial nomination, U.S. Senator Mike Braun is pulling ahead in very early vote tallies in northeast Indiana and elsewhere in the state, with about 30 to 35% of the vote so far.

6:45 p.m. According to Allen County, there were 13,257 absentee or early ballots cast in the primary.
