The Allen County Public Library (ACPL) board of trustees held a public session Wednesday to present recommendations for the facilities master plan and to hear public comment.
The recommendations include upgrades to nearly every ACPL facility, including expansions at some locations to address community needs. It also includes selling some properties that don’t offer space for expansion and relocating those branches.
Board president Ben Eisbart concluded the meeting with a reminder that the library will continue to seek feedback on the plan in the next few months.
“Remember this is a beginning not an end," he said. "It’s an exciting venture for all of us, it’s reflective of the love that we have for the library within our community.”
At the meeting, a couple members of the public took the opportunity to ask about specific concerns, such as adding a cafe within the library and incorporating alternative energy sources.
The ACPL is working with Bostwick Design Partnership on the plan, which presented two options ranging from $95 million to $115 million. You can find the full facilities master plan on the ACPL website Thursday morning.
