The Allen County Public Library board of trustees met Thursday to discuss the proposed cost of the library’s facilities transformation plan.
The board formally received the master plan earlier this month, after several hearings seeking public comment on the proposed options to renovating library buildings.
The proposed plan is estimated to cost $125 million, for which the library will contribute 21% of the total cost. The library could seek the remaining expense through bonds paid by property taxes.
Based on the median homestead value in Allen County, homeowners would pay an extra $1.90 per month in taxes.
The full hearing on the costs of the project is available for viewing on the library’s YouTube channel. A second hearing is scheduled for April 28 at 3 PM, after which the board will vote whether or not to move forward with authorizing the bonds.
