Stillwater CEO Leslie Friedel announced the organizations name change, formerly Visiting Nurse, on March 3, 2022.

Stillwater Hospice and Kosciusko Homecare and Hospice have become one organization, as of Wednesday, the organizations announced.

Both non-profit organizations provide specialized palliative, hospice and grief support services. The merger allows Stillwater to offer expanded services to Kosciusko county.

While the number of hospice providers continues to increase, the number of nonprofit hospice organizations is decreasing. As of 2020, more than 72 percent of hospices were for profit.

The partnership will also ensure that the hospice caregivers will continue to be local and non-profit, according to the release.

Together, the two organizations have more than 180 years of experience caring for patients in Indiana. Stillwater Hospice serves 12 counties in northern Indiana, including Allen County.

Stillwater Hospice is a financial supporter of 89.1 WBOI.
