The Allen County Public Library Board of Trustees has chosen a new executive director, following a national search.
The board unanimously voted in favor of Susan Baier at its meeting Thursday. Baier is currently the library director for McCracken County Public Library in Paducah, Kentucky.
Baier will start by March 1, filling the position which has been vacant since former Executive Director Greta Southard quietly resigned in August.
During her tenure, Southard faced backlash over discarding or “weeding” of library materials and struggled with keeping the library open during the pandemic.
In December, the ACPL Board announced a short list of four finalists for the position.
