Adrian Curry On Creating Leaders Through Art

My'Angel, a straight A student this year, ready to discuss the importance of the ALC on-air.

Fort Wayne creative, Adrian Curry, recipient of this year's Emerging Leader award from Arts United, embraces the artistic passions that drive his community involvement, and he's giving school kids a chance to develop their own skills through his Art Leadership Center on the city's south side.

Centered around the arts and focused on establishing healthy habits and relationships, the ALC looks to develop leaders of character with a global conscience that serve underdeveloped and underrepresented communities locally, nationally and internationally.

For a look at the project's depth, WBOI's Julia Meek invited Curry and one of his students, My'Angel Jordan-Colter, into the studio to talk about the center's mission and the possibilities it affords its own emerging leaders.

You can learn more about the program at the Art Leadership Center Facebook page.

A Fort Wayne native, Julia is a radio host, graphic artist, and community volunteer, who has contributed to NIPR both on- and off-air for forty years. Besides being WBOI's arts & culture reporter, she currently co-produces and hosts Folktales and Meet the Music.
