One-hundred and 87 Allen County residents have died from COVID-19, with one more death reported Friday. Over 5,500 individuals have tested positive for the disease. Allen County sits in the orange zone, depicted on the county’s dashboard, with between 39-95 cases a day. The orange zone indicates that community spread has accelerated and is occurring at dangerous levels, according to the Harvard Global Health Institute’s Key Metrics for COVID Suppression. Elsewhere in northeast Indiana, those between the ages of 20-29 and 50-59 are tied as the age groups with the highest percentage of COVID-19 infection, with 18.3 percent. There are about 24 percent of ICU beds available in the region, with nearly 10 percent of all ICU beds being used by COVID-19 patients.
