Allen County Judicial Candidates To Be Interviewed

The Allen Superior Court Judicial Nominating Commission has nailed down five candidates to replace retiring Superior Court Civil Division Judge Stanley Levine. It’s the second time this year the group has met to sort through would-be judges.

Candidate interviews will be held on Oct. 1 in Courtroom 110 in the Allen County Courthouse.

The interviews, lasting 30 minutes each, will help narrow down the pool of candidates to settle on three finalists to send to Governor Eric Holcomb so he may make the final appointment.

The five candidates are:

  • Carol Helton, the attorney for the City of Fort Wayne

  • Andrew Palmison, a partner at the firm of Rothberg, Logan and Warsco

  • Allen Superior Magistrate Jennifer DeGroote

  • George Sistevaris, an attorney in private practice

  • Andrew Williams, a partner at the firm of Hunt Suedhoff Kalamaros

In late August, the Allen Superior Court Judicial Nominating Commission identified three finalists to be considered by the governor to fill the seat soon to be vacated by Criminal Division Judge John Surbeck.

Those three finalists are:

  • Long-time defense attorney Anthony Churchward

  • Allen Superior Court Criminal Division Magistrate David Zent

  • Allen Circuit Court Magistrate Steve Godfrey

Both Levine and Surbeck are retiring at the end of December.
