Auburn Man Sued By Indiana Attorney General, Alleging Fraud

Facebook

The Indiana Attorney General’s office sued an Auburn man for allegedly operating a pyramid scheme that bilked individuals out of thousands of dollars.

According to the complaint filed in DeKalb Superior Court, Michael Lee Wasnich violated Indiana’s Pyramid Promotional Schemes Act through his company United Freedom Team, LLC.

On the company’s website, MailboxMoneyPlan.com, Wasnich tells people to buy into the scheme, and then they will receive money if they convince others to buy into the scheme, often through the use of direct mail postcards.

To buy into the scheme, individuals paid between $100 and 10,000. They would send a check or money order to a P.O. Box or other address, and then a portion of their buy-in was given to whomever recruited them as a commission. Another portion of their buy-in was given to Wasnich, according to court documents.

No other goods, services, or property is offered, other than “financial freedom.”

According to the lawsuit filed earlier this month, the state is seeking an injunction keeping Wasnich from operating his scheme, as well as consumer restitution and a civil penalty.

A message left for Wasnich Friday has not yet been returned. According to court records, his home was lost to foreclosure.

On his social media page, Wasnich continued to offer the same schemes after the lawsuit was filed, and works with different companies including easycashatm.com, ProsperityPeopleSystem.com and GlobalDomainsInternational.com.

He has used addresses in Indiana, Florida and Maryland, among other states.
