Aug. 4: Most Of State Out Of COVID Safe Zones

Steuben and Huntington counties remain in the state’s second-worst category for COVID-19 spread on Wednesday, while all other northeast Indiana counties are now in the second-best.

The state’s dashboard measures COVID spread using both 7-day positivity rates and the number of cases per 100,000.

 

There were 226 new cases reported in the area on Wednesday, among the 1,774 Hoosiers newly-infected with the coronavirus.

 

The state’s 7-day positivity rate is now up to 8 percent, while northeast Indiana’s is now at 7.4 percent, according to the Indiana Department of Health.

 

Just under 51 percent of the state’s eligible population is fully vaccinated against the virus. 

 

In the area, the rates of vaccination vary from 50.8 percent in Allen County to 23.6 percent in LaGrange County.

 

Only Lagrange, Wabash and Wells counties reported single-digit new case numbers on Wednesday.

 

There are 933 Hoosiers hospitalized with the virus.

 
Northeast Indiana totals for Aug. 4:

  • Adams County: 16 new cases for 3,603 total. No new deaths for 56 total. 7-day positivity at 2.9%. Eligible population fully vaccinated 35%.
  • Allen County: 96 new cases for 43,760 total. No new deaths for 701 total. 7-day positivity at 8.2%. Eligible population fully vaccinated 50.8%.
  • DeKalb County: 25 new cases for 4,639 total. No new deaths for 85 total. 7-day positivity at 13.6%. Eligible population fully vaccinated 41.5%.
  • Huntington County: 26 new cases for 4,315 total. No new deaths for 82 total. 7-day positivity at 8.2%. Eligible population fully vaccinated 48.5%.
  • Kosciusko County: 10 new cases for 9,860 total. No new deaths for 124 total. 7-day positivity at 8.5%. Eligible population fully vaccinated 38.7%.
  • LaGrange County: 2 new cases for 2,791 total. No new deaths for 73 total. 7-day positivity at 5.8%. Eligible population fully vaccinated 23.6%.
  • Noble County: 11 new cases for 6,083 total. No new deaths for 91 total. 7-day positivity at 9.3% Eligible population fully vaccinated 37.5%.
  • Steuben County: 14 new cases for 4,159 total. No new deaths for 61 total. 7-day positivity at 8.9%. Eligible population fully vaccinated 44.9%. 
  • Wabash County: 4 new cases for 3,742 total. No new deaths for 84 total. 7-day positivity at 4.4%. Eligible population fully vaccinated 39.2%.
  • Wells County: 7 new cases for 3,066 total. No new deaths for 81 total. 7-day positivity at 3.7% Eligible population fully vaccinated 41.0%.
  • Whitley County: 16 new cases for 4,225 total. No new deaths for 45 total. 7-day positivity at 45.8%.
