Creative Women of the World is celebrating Mexico's Day of the Dead with a special installation of ofrendas, or altars, an authentic and key tradition of the holiday.
Two ofrendas, crafted by storyteller Emily Guerrero, founder of Mexica Arts, honor Frida Kahlo, Ruth Bader Ginsberg and the deceased loved ones of visitors to the store during the exhibition.
To learn the significance of this custom and other important aspects of the holiday, WBOI's Julia Meek invited Guerrero and Irma Gonzalez, who grew up in Mexico and came to the United States to work as Legal Affairs Officer for the Consulate General, into the studio to share their personal Dia de los Muertos experiences, reflections and memories .
