COVID-19 Deaths Up In Northeast Indiana Due To COVID-19 Tuesday

Nine additional COVID-19 deaths were reported Tuesday in Allen County, along with another 304 positive tests.

That brings the total number of deaths caused by the illness to 273, and the number of positive cases to 14,889, according to the Allen County Department of Health.

The rising numbers caused local officials to enact a number of safety measures, announced Tuesday morning in a press conference.

Statewide, there were an additional 84 deaths reported Tuesday. More than 30 of those newly-reported deaths occurred Sunday, according to the Indiana State Department of Health.

Twenty-two deaths occurred on Monday.

Ten of the deaths counted Tuesday occurred in northeast Indiana.

More than 5,500 new cases were reported statewide, and the 7-day positivity rate has now climbed to 12 percent. Just a month ago, the rate was just over 6 percent.

Hospitalizations are up to 2,951.

Northeast Indiana totals reported from Nov. 17:

  • Adams County: 29 new cases for 1,376 total. Two new deaths for 17 total.
  • Allen County: 304 new cases for 14,889 total. Nine new deaths for 273 total.
  • DeKalb County: 16 new cases for 1,483 total. No new deaths for 25 total.
  • Huntington County: 19 new cases for 929 total. No new deaths for seven total.
  • Kosciousko County: 60 new cases for 3,662 total. One new death for 39 total.
  • LaGrange County: 19 new cases for 1,245 total. One new death for 24 total.
  • Noble County: 34 new cases for 2,129 total. Two new deaths for 44 total.
  • Steuben County: 28 new cases for 1,184 total. One new death for 13 total.
  • Wabash County: 40 new cases for 1,181 total. No new deaths for 17 total.
  • Wells County: 21 new cases for 960 total. No new deaths for 20 total.
  • Whitley County: 27 new cases for 1,062 total. No new deaths for eight total.
