Club President, Dan Kruse took up soccer at the age of 45, when his son became involved in the sport.

The Fort Wayne Sport Club, on the southwest side of the city, is equally devoted to the sport of soccer, and preserving its founders' German heritage.

This Saturday, both facets are being showcased, as the Club celebrates its 90th anniversary with a free, day-long Community Festival, on the grounds.

Since joining in 1999, Youth Soccer President, Oliver Reelsen has considered the club his 2nd home.

Besides German-style music, dancing, food and refreshments, festivalgoers will be able to attend soccer matches for players between 4 and 82 years of age, as well as engage in family-friendly activities, and Germanfest-style events and demonstrations.

Eight club members are in the Indiana Soccer Hall of Fame, the most of any soccer club in the state.

WBOI's Julia Meek met with club president, Dan Kruse, and Youth Soccer president, Oliver Reelsen, to discuss the club's philosophy, staying power, and what its rich history has meant to the area.
