Kroger and Allen County to Offer Drive-Through COVID-19 Testing

The Allen County Department of Health is partnering with Kroger to provide drive-through testing in Fort Wayne.

Testing will be available Thursday and Friday at Bishop Dwenger High School from 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM. Registration will be required and available atKroger Health’s website, where a virtual screening tool will determine eligibility.

At the site, residents will remain in their cars where they will receive a swab and self-administer the test under the supervision of a staff member. Eric Halvorson, manager of corporate affairs for Kroger’s Central Division, says this means staff will only need to dispose of gloves between each person.

“Because of the way this test is being conducted, we will go through less personal protective equipment than we might under some of the other testing programs.”

Halvorson says they are planning to continue the drive-through sites throughout the month of May, though they might change locations as they understand what communities are most in need of the services.

Dates for future sites will continue to be released in the coming week.
