Allen County has passed 800 COVID-19 deaths, with four new deaths reported Wednesday.

That is one out of every 474 Allen County residents, which is a larger ratio than the country overall at one out of 500 residents.

There were 159 new cases reported as well, bringing the total to 57,674 and the county’s 7-day positivity rate is 9.7 percent, according to the Indiana Department of Health.

There was an additional death reported Wednesday in Steuben County, and 341 new cases reported overall in northeast Indiana.

Less than 3,000 additional eligible Hoosiers joined the ranks of the fully-vaccinated, however nearly 5,700 residents received their COVID booster shots.

While the 7-day positivity rate in the area and the state remains higher than early August, the number of those receiving tests continues to fall.
