Oct. 6: COVID deaths up over past few days in area

There were 13 new COVID-19 deaths reported in northeast Indiana on Wednesday, and the 7-day positivity rate inched up to 9.6 percent.

There were nine deaths reported in the area on Tuesday.

 

However the 7-day average of tests administered has continued to go down, according to the Indiana Department of Health.

 

All area counties reported double-digit new cases counts on Wednesday, most between 14 and 30 new cases. 

 

Hospitalizations edged up a bit as well.

 

Allen County reported 198 new cases, bringing its total to 55,737. Six new deaths were reported in Allen County on Wednesday, bringing that total to 786. 

 

DeKalb County saw three new deaths reported on Wednesday.

 

Allen County now has over 57 percent of its eligible population fully vaccinated, followed by Huntington County at more than 48 percent.

 

LaGrange and Adams counties remain in the back of the pack for vaccinations, with just under 26 and 39 percent respectively.

 

Northeast Indiana county totals:

  • Adams County: 14 new cases for 4,617 total. 1 new death for 70 total. 7-day positivity rate at 7.9%. Eligible population fully vaccinated 38.8%.
  • Allen County: 198 new cases for 55,737 total. 6 new deaths for 786 total. 7-day positivity rate at 8.7%. Eligible population fully vaccinated 57.2%.
  • DeKalb County: 22 new cases for 6,058 total. 3 new deaths for 95 total. 7-day positivity rate at 13.4%. Eligible population fully vaccinated 43.9%.
  • Huntington County: 14 new cases for 6,198 total. No new deaths for 97 total. 7-day positivity rate at 6.4%. Eligible population fully vaccinated 48.45.
  • Kosciusko County: 70 new cases for 11, 876 total. 1 new death for 145 total. 7-day positivity rate at 11.1%. Eligible population fully vaccinated 43.8%.
  • LaGrange County: 18 new cases for 3,406 total. No new deaths for 77 total. 7-day positivity rate at 21.9%. Eligible population fully vaccinated 258%.
  • Noble County: 26 new cases for 7,679 total. 1 new death for 104 total. 7-day positivity rate at 11.1%. Eligible population fully vaccinated 42.6%.
  • Steuben County: 30 new cases for 5,296 total. No new deaths for 70 total. 7-day positivity rate at 11%. Eligible population fully vaccinated 47.4%.
  • Wabash County: 23 new cases for 5,093 total. 1 new death for 96 total. 7-day positivity rate at 8.9%. Eligible population fully vaccinated 42.9%.
  • Wells County: 32 new cases for 4,060 total. No new deaths for 86 total. 7-day positivity rate at 8.9%. Eligible population fully vaccinated 44.9%.
  • Whitley County: 20 new cases for 5,475 total.. No new deaths for 54 total. 7-day positivity rate at 12.4%. Eligible population fully vaccinated 47.4%.
