Online sports betting is now legally available in the Hoosier State.

Two providers began offering mobile wagers Thursday.

Lawmakers legalized sports wagering, including online bets, earlier this year. The ban on such bets lifted Sept. 1 and most of the state’s casinos began offering in-person sports gambling last month.

But the online portion wasn’t ready to go as gaming operators set up their systems. Now, two casinos – in East Chicago and French Lick – are offering mobile bets via Draft Kings and Rush Street, two of the biggest names in mobile sports betting.

Online sports wagering is “geo-fenced” in Indiana, meaning people must be within state lines to place their bets. Experts expect the bulk of sports wagering revenues will occur via the online platforms.
