Positive Tests Rates Show Local COVID-19 Spread

The local COVID-19 infection rate in LaGrange County remains significantly higher than the state average, according to data from the Indiana Department of Health.

Statewide, there were 312 new positive cases of COVID-19 reported Monday. A total of 476,519 individuals have been tested. Nine point five  percent have tested positive. 

Allen County had 21 new cases reported on Monday. About 25,000 individuals have been tested, the positive test rate is about 10.4 percent, not far off the state average.

In Noble County, 431 people have tested positive for COVID-19, and 28 have died. With 3,954 county residents tested, the county’s positive test rate is about 10 percent.

But LaGrange County has a positive test rate of about 22 percent. There have been 449 positive tests, out of 2,042 tested. Six people have died. Three new positive tests were reported on Monday.

LaGrange County instituted a mask ordinance earlier this month. On Monday, neighboring Elkhart County ordered face coverings as well. Elkhart County has 3,003 positive tests, and a positive rate of 14 percent.
