Sept. 2: Two New COVID Deaths In Allen County

Two more COVID-19 deaths were reported in Allen County Thursday, according to the Indiana Department of Health.

That brings the total to 725 Allen County lives lost to the virus. An additional 264 cases were reported Thursday.

Statewide, the number of new cases topped 5,000 for the first time since Jan. 9. The numbers have climbed steadily since mid-July as the highly-contagious Delta variant continues its spread.

Delta makes up more than 98 percent of all new COVID cases diagnosed.

There were 622 new cases reported in northeast Indiana, and the area’s total hospitalization for COVID is at 260.

The area’s 7-day positivity rate is at 11.8, up slightly from a week ago.

Only LaGrange County remains in the state’s second-best category for community spread, but has the worst vaccination rate in the state at under 25 percent.

Northeast Indiana totals:

  • Adams County: 40 cases for 4,146 total. No new deaths for 63 total. 7-day positivity rate at 6.9%. Eligible population fully vaccinated 36.8%.
  • Allen County: 264 new cases for 49,389 total. 2 new deaths for 725 total. 7-day positivity rate at 11.6%. Eligible population fully vaccinated 54.4%.
  • DeKalb County: 31 new cases for 5,212 total. No new deaths for 89 total. 7-day positivity rate at 14.5%. Eligible population fully vaccinated 41.7%.
  • Huntington County: 29 new cases for 5,547 total. No new deaths for 87 total. 7-day positivity rate at 13.1%. Eligible population fully vaccinated 46.1%.
  • Kosciusko County: 59 new cases for 10,581 total. No new deaths for 129 total. 7-day positivity rate at 9.5%. Eligible population fully vaccinated 41.4%.
  • LaGrange County: 7 new cases for 2,920 total. No new deaths for 73 total. 7-day positivity rate at 9.7%. Eligible population fully vaccinated 24.8%.
  • Noble County: 50 new cases for 6,815 total. No new deaths for 98 total. 7-day positivity rate at 12.8%. Eligible population fully vaccinated 40.3%.
  • Steuben County: 24 new cases for 4,582 total.  No new deaths for 64 total. 7-day positivity rate at 9%. Eligible population fully vaccinated 45.7%.
  • Wabash County: 36 new cases for 4,402 total. No new deaths for 86 total. 7-day positivity rate at 12.9%. Eligible population fully vaccinated 40.7%.
  • Wells County: 33 new cases for 3,509 total. No new deaths for 82 total. 7-day positivity rate at 13.3%. Eligible population fully vaccinated 42.6%.
  • Whitley County: 49 new cases for 4,833 total. No new deaths for 48 total. 7-day positivity rate at 15.2%. Eligible population fully vaccinated 45%.
