Seven Catholic Churches in Northeast Indiana Assigned New Pastors

The Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Fort Wayne will soon welcome Reverand Jacob Runyon as new rector.

Bishop Kevin Rhoades announced assignments of several priests to new parish communities throughout northeast Indiana. Seven churches in the Roman Catholic Diocese of Fort Wayne – South Bend will be welcoming new pastors on June 19.

Most notable is Reverend Jacob Runyon, currently pastor of Saint Jude on Pemberton Drive, will trade assignments with Monsignor Robert Schulte. Runyon will succeed Schulte as Rector of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in downtown Fort Wayne. Schulte will take over as pastor at Saint Jude.

Queen of Angels on West State Boulevard will welcome Reverend Zachary Barry. He comes to Fort Wayne from St. Vincent de Paul in Elkhart.

Two priests currently assigned in Fort Wayne will become pastors at parishes in other communities. Reverend Jonathan Norton will become pastor of Sacred Heart in Warsaw. Reverend Vincent Joseph Rathappillil has been assigned to St. Michael the Archangel in Waterloo, replacing retiring Reverend David Carkenord.

Reverend David Ruppert will be the next pastor of St. Mary of the Assumption in Decatur and Reverend David Violi has been assigned to St. Joseph in Bluffton.
