In honor of Earth Day, the Allen County Department of Environmental Management is launching an ambitious campaign at Eagle Marsh this Sunday, called "Reduce Your Use: Plastic Straws."
Public Awareness, and pledges to this cause will be encouraged by the department's light-hearted video, produced by Anchor Films, showing how local wildlife might react to plastic drinking straws if they could.
While supplies last, individuals who pledge to refuse plastic straws will be given a reusable stainless steel straw for those times when one is preferred, and restaurants that would like to take the pledge, or use paper straws, will be recognized.
For a look at the scope of the movement, WBOI's Julia Meek met with project coordinator, Jodi Leamon to discuss its importance, and how one small action could make a big difference in our environment.
