Trine Names Leader of New Physician Assistant Program

Trine University

Trine University announced Monday a director of its upcoming Master of Physician Assistant Studies program. Timothy Barnard is an experienced physician assistant in the military and private sectors. The native Hoosier has worked in orthopedics and cardiac surgery.

The current lieutenant has been a physician assistant in the Indiana National Guard since 1996.

Trine University is partnering with Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne to offer the 28-month master’s program. It will be based at Trine’s Health Sciences Education Center which opened last year in Fort Wayne.

Barnard will teach and lead the program when it begins in January of 2017. Applications for the program will open this September.

The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics projects a 38 percent growth in jobs for physician assistants through 2022.
