Truck Rally at Glenbrook Ends With Police Intervention

Fort Wayne Police reported a thousand trucks gathered at Glenbrook Commons on Saturday as part of a diesel truck rally.

The trucks took up the parking lot of Glenbrook Mall, without permission from the property owner. Police reported receiving calls from employees and customers stuck inside the mall and afraid to leave with the large rally happening outside.

In a release Monday, the police department said they called in specialty units to assist in clearing the area and preparing for arrests. Once they’d received permission from the property manager, police sent a text alert to those in the area warning those gathered to vacate the area or be arrested.

This was the first time the text feature has been used. According to police, people began to pack up and leave and no arrests were made.
