With municipal elections now less than a month away, we wanted to go over some of the races going on throughout Fort Wayne. Purdue Fort Wayne's Andy Downs, from the Mike Downs Center for Indiana Politics, joined us in the studio along with WBOI’s own Zach Bernard.

The first week in October marked a transition in area races and Andy took a look at some of the significant dates as we move closer to election day.

Klopfer update

After his death in early September, family members found multiple fetal remains inside the Illinois home of Ulrich Klopfer, a former physician who performed abortions in clinics across northern Indiana. While we were producing WBOI Presents, additional remains were found. Indiana Attorney General Curtis Hill is spearheading an investigation into the remains, and how they were handled.

Strike update

The UAW and General Motors are locked in their longest strike in decades, with workers standing outside plants all over the United States. Locally, members of the union are picketing in front of the GM truck assembly plant, and it appears that there is little moving in negotiations.
