An 1840's style canal boat was launched Tuesday evening on the city's downtown waters. Fort Wayne's Friends of the Rivers, the Community Foundation and AWS Foundation, worked together to bring the boat, "Sweet Breeze," to Fort Wayne.

Erosion washes away about a foot of soil each year on the banks of the St. Marys River near Headwaters Park. This is bad for the land and also for the rivers, which is why the city plans to stabilize the riverbank in this area to prevent future erosion.

Summer is just a few weeks away, which means boating season is about to kick into full gear. The City of Fort Wayne is being proactive to ensure safety around low-head dams along the St. Joseph and Maumee rivers.

Fort Wayne just completed a project that will decrease the amount of sewage overflowing into the St. Joseph River. The project took less time and money to complete than expected.
