Gov. Eric Holcomb signed an executive order Tuesday to help address the low availability of propane across the state. The order suspends regulations on driving hours for truck drivers transporting propane.

Scot Imus is the Executive Director of the Indiana Gas Propane Association. He says the association requested that Gov. Holcomb issue the waiver in order to ensure that propane is readily available as temperatures dip below zero.

Fort Wayne organizations signed a winter weather emergency plan Thursday for the city’s homeless.

The shelters will be offered by different agencies in Fort Wayne this winter as part of the city’s emergency shelter plan. The plan only goes into effect when wind chills reach below zero, but some shelters will open at other times as well.

Just Neighbors is one of the partner organizations and provides shelter for homeless families. Its director, Terry Anderson, says it is important that the groups work together to provide shelter for everyone who needs it this winter.
