With an increasing demand for fresh, healthy food, the Purdue Extension Local Food Program and the Allen County Extension Office are teaming up this Wednesday to host the first-ever Fort Wayne Local Food Summit.

Its goal is to assess the needs in the local food production chain, and find a commonality between producers, distributors and consumers here in Northeast Indiana.

WBOI's Julia Meek met with two fresh food advocates -- Purdue Extension Educator Ricky Kemery, and Jain Young, Project Manager of Heartland Communities' Plowshares Local Food System Project -- to find out more.

To follow the developments of the Summit, you can visit the Purdue Extension Local Food Program Facebook page.
