Development partners and officials from the City of Fort Wayne revealed the completion of the West Columbia Street streetscape at The Landing Thursday afternoon.
The streetscape features a wide, gated plaza for pedestrians with trees, benches and new lighting at the intersections of Columbia, as well as Calhoun and Harrison streets.
Mayor Tom Henry, representatives from Model Group, the Downtown Trust, Greater Fort Wayne Inc. and other stakeholders were in attendance. Model Group CEO Steve Smith says he’s used to projects having to be “scaled back” as design moves to construction.
“But what’s happened here, and what’s happened at the [Promenade] park is a place that is going to be a major draw not just for the residents but also anyone who visits Fort Wayne.”
Mayor Tom Henry also announced that all of the properties within The Landing are spoken for, in the form of finished leases or letters of intent.
The Landing as a whole is expected to be “completed” by spring 2020.
