Millions of dollars coming to FW neighborhoods for infrastructure

Mayor Tom Henry announced Wednesday the City of Fort Wayne will invest more than $38 million for neighborhood infrastructure improvements in 2022.

Henry has made neighborhood infrastructure a hallmark of his mayoral tenure, annually boosting the financial commitments for improving roads, bridges, sidewalks, alleys and trails in the city.

Since 2014, the city has invested nearly $200 million for these improvements.

Every quadrant of Fort Wayne will see unique improvements, but some fixes will be universal, like street lighting improvements, sidewalk leveling, landscape maintenance and updates to the city’s comprehensive flood response plan.

Additionally, Henry says 22 projects are currently in the study, design and land acquisition phases that will ultimately result in future investment.
