With National Poetry Month just around the corner, spoken word is getting ready to take the spotlight.

And tomorrow evening, Fort Wayne creatives Chanelle Barnes and Daniel Church are combining this medium with visual art in a special collaboration event at 816 Pint & Slice they call "Picture This."

The wide variety of two and three dimensional artwork being displayed complements the poetry that was contributed by an equally varied assortment of wordsmiths, from emerging writers to seasoned author performers.

This is a chance, says Barnes, for everyone to see poetry in a different way.

This project, according to Barnes and Church, is an effort to combine forces between two mediums that are often left to the imagination. Much like putting a face to a name, they are intent on bringing words to color.

For a look at the concept, WBOI's Julia Meek caught up with the pair last week to learn how the mediums and the collaborators will be bringing everything into focus.
