Indiana set a record Wednesday for the number of new positive coronavirus cases with 1,488. Sixteen new deaths were reported, having occurred over the past few days.
The state’s seven-day positivity rate for COVID-19 is now up over 5 percent, a number deemed too high by the World Health Organization.
Those between the ages of 20-29 remain the highest total of those who are currently infected with the virus that causes COVID-19, according to the Indiana State Department of Health.
Allen County saw 74 new cases, with its seven-day positivity rate at 4.9 percent. More than 6,870 have tested positive for COVID-19.
Thirteen new cases were confirmed in DeKalb County, bringing the total number of those who have tested positive for COVID-19 to 582, according to DeKalb County health officials.
Statewide, the number of ICU beds occupied by COVID-19 patients is now up to 15.3 percent, the highest percentage since July.
