Park Center was awarded a nearly $4 million grant this week to expand behavioral health services in northeast Indiana.
The grant was awarded by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, a branch of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. It will allow Park Center to operate as a Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic and offer additional services.
As part of those services, later this year Park Center plans to expand its Carew Street hours to become the only 24/7 crisis center in northeast Indiana.
According to the United Health Foundation, Indiana has a low rate of mental health providers, ranking 43 out of 50 states.
The $3,974,096 grant is the largest grant ever awarded to Parkview Health, which Park Center joined in 2018.
