Thousands of people turned up for Fort Wayne’s Farmers Market this weekend as the vendors moved outside onto Parkview Field.

The market announced last week they would be moving onto the field in order to comply with continued social distancing recommendations. Vendors wore masks and set up their booths ten feet apart, unsure how much of a crowd to expect.

Sarah Allison owns Evananne Macarons with her husband. She says they were glad to continue to be a part of the Farmers Market in the new space.

“We liked that they kept the partnership with Parkview open. I mean, it stinks that they’re not playing baseball, but the fact that we can kind of control the crowd made it a little bit easier of a decision to keep going.”

Allison says she baked about 650 macarons for the day and they were completely sold out by about noon. She plans to make more for the next market this Saturday.

The market will continue to operate out of Parkview Field for at least the next two Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
