The owner of local used bookstore Hyde Brothers, Booksellers has died.

According to a Facebook post by the store, Sam Hyde passed away Tuesday evening surrounded by his family.

Store officials said in the post they “aren’t going anywhere” and remain open during regular business hours.

With over 150,000 titles stacked on two floors, Hyde Brothers, Booksellers has been a well-known presence in the Wells Street Corridor for more than 25 years, and is a popular place for local authors to launch new publications.

Rebecca manages the news at WBOI. She joined the staff in December 2017, and brought with her nearly two decades of experience in print journalism, including 15 years as an award-winning reporter for the Journal Gazette in Fort Wayne.
