Fort Wayne educator, Terry Doran, has dedicated his life to the spirit of the community, and his Three Rivers Art Center for Kids is a direct result of that passion.
So is that organization's annual RiverDrums celebration, which takes place on Saturday, June 23rd, in the theater of the downtown Public Library.
The event, which began in 2016, was the result of Doran's desire to showcase the area's rivers and rich history, as well as the city's cultural diversity, through music, dancing, storytelling and art.
To that end, a wide variety of volunteer acts are on the playbill, and this year's lineup includes Native American, Chinese, African American, Mexican, Chilean-world fusion and Americana performances.
The results, he hopes, will remind participants that we're all one people.
For a look at what drives Doran's own spirit, WBOI's Julia Meek lured him away from his projects and into the studio last week to discuss how these connections inspire his output, and impact his mission.
