Over the past few days, northeast Indiana saw increases in both the number of coronavirus infections reported, as well as the number of lives it claimed.

As of Sunday evening, Allen County had 76 confirmed cases of the virus and four deaths. On Saturday, Allen County reported 67 cases, and three deaths. Allen County and Fort Wayne city buildings remain closed. The courthouse is open on a limited basis.

At the last official count by the Indiana Department of Health, there were 4,411 Hoosiers who tested positive for the virus, and 127 have died.

More than 22,600 Hoosiers have been tested, according to state health officials.

In Noble County, the count is up to 11 cases, with one death. The death was a resident of the Sacred Heart long term care facility in Avilla.

LaGrange County Sheriff Jeff Campos issued a strong warning letter via a Facebook post Friday, urging residents to stay at home.

Campos emphasized Governor Eric Holcomb’s definition of essential travel, and reminded residents they could be arrested and charged with a misdemeanor.

LaGrange County currently has four individuals who have tested positive for the illness.
