When the Indiana Music Teachers Association announced the "Teacher of the Year" award winner last Friday during its annual conference at Vincennes University, the spotlight fell on IPFW's Director of Piano Studies, Hamilton Tescarollo.

A native of Brazil, Tescarollo has received numerous accolades for performance as well as teaching since he came to the United States in the mid-nineties, and earlier this week, he met with WBOI's Julia Meek to discuss why he finds this dual profession so satisfying.

A Fort Wayne native, Julia is a radio host, graphic artist, and community volunteer, who has contributed to NIPR both on- and off-air for forty years. Besides being WBOI's arts & culture reporter, she currently co-produces and hosts Folktales and Meet the Music.
