Youngest Lennon and McCarthy sons collab on a new song

AILSA CHANG, HOST:

There are probably not many songwriting partnerships as well-known, beloved or successful as John Lennon and Paul McCartney.

(SOUNDBITE OF SONG, "I WANT TO HOLD YOUR HAND")

THE BEATLES: (Singing) Oh, yeah, I'll tell you something I think you'll understand. When I say that something, I want to hold your hand.

CHANG: So it's bound to catch some attention when a new Lennon-McCartney collaboration drops in 2024. Only this time, it's not John and Paul. It's their youngest sons, Sean Ono Lennon and James McCartney.

(SOUNDBITE OF JAMES MCCARTNEY AND SEAN ONO LENNON SONG, "PRIMROSE HILL")

CHANG: The song is titled "Primrose Hill."

(SOUNDBITE OF SONG, "PRIMROSE HILL")

JAMES MCCARTNEY AND SEAN ONO LENNON: (Singing) Always remember Primrose Hill, Primrose Hill.

CHANG: Perhaps the pair's No. 1 fan - well, proud papa Paul, of course, who wrote on Facebook, my son James has a new song out called "Primrose Hill." Check it out, and lots of love to Sean Ono Lennon, who co-wrote the song.

(SOUNDBITE OF SONG, "PRIMROSE HILL")

MCCARTNEY AND ONO LENNON: (Singing) You disappear forever. Transcript provided by NPR, Copyright NPR.
