Bringing Western Swing to the Fort Wayne Music Scene

Nationally acclaimed western swing singer, Carolyn Martin, is a Texas native who developed her career in Nashville, before her husband's position with Sweetwater brought her right here to Fort Wayne.

As Martin, with her husband David, continue to develop a local fan base, they're aiming to make western swing music a staple here in Fort Wayne.

Martin has acquired many, many  awards and accolades over the course of her career, including multiple Academy of Western Artists' Will Rogers awards as Western Swing Female Vocalist of the Year.

She also is a member of nearly every Hall of Fame and Music Society in her genre, but is quick to note that being inducted into the Texas Western Swing Hall of Fame was a high point in her life that will probably never be eclipsed.

Now, her love of the genre, and its own first lady, Patsy Cline, has Martin ready to share an evening of it at the historic Philmore on Broadwaythis Friday.

For a first hand look at the passion driving this musical journey, WBOI's Julia Meek invited Carolyn into the studio, to talk about the power, and the pleasure of her craft.
