Freistroffer Appointed City Council President

City of Fort Wayne

Fort Wayne City Council appointed at-large Republican councilman Tom Freistroffer as its president for the upcoming year. Freistroffer was first elected to council in 2015.

Council votes for a new president every year, and Freistroffer replaces third district councilman Tom Didier in the role. Freistroffer commended Didier for his work as their president, and called the appointment a “great honor.”

“I think we had a fruitful 2017, and hopefully in 2018 we can grow on that momentum and ride that momentum,” said Freistroffer. “I’ll try to communicate with you all the best I can so we can have a good 2018.”

Council also appointed at-large Republican councilman John Crawford as vice president of the nine-member body.
